The defender will miss England's FIFA World Cup qualifier against Latvia due to a physical issue and the player – who did not play in the national team's three-nil exhibition win over Wales at Wembley – will head back to his club Bayer Leverkusen.
The former Liverpool defender has been a regular in Leverkusen's backline this season but the national squad said no further team replacements were scheduled for the qualifier in the Latvian capital on Tuesday.
